1. Information we collect
We collect information you give us, information created as you use TAKEOVA, and a small amount from other services you choose to connect.
- Account details: your name, email address, business name and phone number. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash, never in readable form. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us.
- Business and site content: the description of your business, prompts, logos and photos you upload, links to an existing website you ask us to rebuild from, and the pages, products, posts and other content you create.
- Billing details: your plan, invoices and billing address. Card details are collected and stored by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Customer data you manage: contacts, leads, form submissions, bookings, orders, emails and messages that you import or that your own customers send through your site.
- Usage and device information: pages viewed, features used, IP address, browser and device type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and error logs. If you build a site before signing up, we store a random device identifier so we can link the build to you when you create an account.
- Communications: support requests, feedback and any other messages you send us.
2. How we use information
- To provide TAKEOVA: generating and hosting your website, running your store, bookings, CRM, inbox and campaigns, and keeping your account secure.
- To process payments and manage your subscription, trial and any usage charges.
- To send service messages such as sign-in links, password resets, receipts, and alerts about your account.
- To answer support requests and fix problems.
- To understand how TAKEOVA is used so we can improve it. We use aggregated or de-identified data where we can.
- To send product news and offers. You can unsubscribe from these at any time using the link in any such email.
- To detect and prevent fraud, spam, abuse and security incidents, and to meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. AI features
When you use an AI feature — building or rebuilding a site, editing with the assistant, writing copy, creating images or scoring a lead — we send your prompt and the content needed to complete the task to an AI provider, which returns the result to us. We use these providers under their business API terms. We do not sell your content to them, and we do not use your private content to train AI models.
AI output can be inaccurate or incomplete. Lead scores and other suggestions are there to help you decide; they are not decisions in themselves. Please review AI-generated content before you publish it.
6. How long we keep information
We keep your information for as long as your account is open. When you close your account, we delete or de-identify your information within a reasonable period, except records we must keep by law, such as invoices and tax records. Sites built without an account are temporary and are deleted after a limited period unless you sign up and claim them. Backups are overwritten on a rolling schedule.
7. Security
All traffic to TAKEOVA is encrypted in transit, and our database and file storage are encrypted at rest. Access to production systems is restricted to the staff who need it. No online service can be perfectly secure, so if a breach affects your information we will tell you and the relevant regulators as the law requires.
8. International transfers
Our main infrastructure is hosted in Australia. Some of our service providers process information in the United States and other countries. Where information leaves the country it was collected in, we rely on contractual safeguards with those providers to keep it protected to a comparable standard.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you, and get a copy in a portable format;
- correct information that is wrong or out of date;
- ask us to delete your information;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, some kinds of processing;
- withdraw consent to marketing at any time.
Email privacy@takeova.ai to make a request. We will reply within 30 days and may need to confirm your identity first. If you are not happy with our response, you can complain to your local privacy regulator — in Australia, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
10. Your customers' information
When your customers fill in a form, book, buy, chat or email you through a site built with TAKEOVA, you decide what is collected and how it is used, and we handle it on your behalf. That means you are responsible for:
- publishing a privacy policy on your own site that describes what you collect;
- having permission before you send marketing emails or SMS messages;
- responding to your customers' requests to see or delete their information. We will help where we can.
If you need a data processing agreement, email privacy@takeova.ai.
11. Children
TAKEOVA is for businesses and is not directed at children. You must be 18 or older to create an account. If we learn that we hold information about a child without the right consent, we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices change and revise the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in your dashboard before it takes effect.
